The concept:
This project began as a short story I wrote a year ago. I am a big fan of Tchaikovsky, and his ballets are among my favorite music to listen to. So naturally, the idea of doing something with his work had been on my mind for quite some time.
Swan Lake is a transformation fairy tale, and therefore already contains many themes related to identity. In my version of the story, I wanted to strengthen those themes. Adding queer identity themes to the foreground. I rewrote the fairy tale in such a way that it can be read as a metaphor for gender identity.
"A prince falls in love with a girl he meets in the woods, but she has a secret. She used to be a swan"
